GDPR and NEWTON Media Privacy Policy

The secure handling of your personal and other sensitive data has always been essential to us. NEWTON Media is committed to continuing to manage your personal data in accordance with the applicable legislation and laws of the Czech Republic and the EU.

The following general principles of personal data handling describe:

  • the personal data we collect and process
  • what we use this information for
  • how we secure and protect this information
  • which other parties we share the data with
  • how we uphold your personal data protection rights

Personal data controller

NEWTON Media, a. s., as the personal data controller, is committed to protecting personal data in accordance with applicable laws and legislation. NEWTON Media, a. s. has its registered office at Lomnického 1705/9, 140 00 Prague 4, Company ID 28168356, VAT ID CZ28168356, and is registered in the Commercial Register kept by the Municipal Court in Prague, Section B, Insert 12446.

Personal data we collect

Personal data is information that relates to you and makes it possible to identify you. It includes your name, email, phone number, and other business contact details that you share with us in the following cases:

  1. Filling in the contact form on our website when enquiring about our services
  2. Signing up for our newsletter on the website
  3. Business communication you conduct with us as a customer of our services

We only collect information we are authorised to collect or that you have consented to. Specifically, this may include the following categories of information:

  1. first name and surname
  2. email or phone number
  3. business contact or billing details
  4. communication you conduct with us through online media (emails, contact forms, chat services, or social media)
  5. general information from cookies on our websites

Personal data may only be processed on legal grounds and in a manner prescribed by law. Where there is no legal ground for storing or processing personal data, the consent of the person concerned is required.

How and why we use personal data, and for how long

We may use your personal data for the following purposes:

  1. providing the services you have enquired about or already use
  2. marketing purposes and sending our newsletter and news
  3. invoicing and other activities within our contractual business relationship
  4. further offers of our services

We only keep your personal data for the time necessary for the purposes listed above.

Personal data obtained on the basis of a contractual relationship is processed for the entire duration of the relationship and subsequently as part of our legal obligations (for tax audits, possible complaints, etc.), for a maximum of ten years.

Personal data for which explicit consent to marketing use was given is processed for a maximum of two years from the last marketing campaign you actively took part in.

Personal data security

We have always kept your personal data safe and protected from misuse. We have also taken several additional steps to further strengthen the security and protection of your personal data.

We have reduced the number of authorised persons at all levels of the company structure who have access to your personal data. Access is limited to those who need to work with it to perform a contractual relationship or negotiate one, send commercial and advertising communications, conduct direct marketing, improve products and services, send news updates, respond to expressed interest, run customer competitions, organise educational events, and carry out marketing research.

All personal data you provide to us is protected by standardised procedures and the latest security technologies. To keep your personal data safe, we regularly audit our security system and apply security measures that prevent unauthorised access to your personal data and that provide sufficient protection given the current state of technology. The security measures in place are updated regularly.

However, we cannot fully guarantee the security of your data without your help and responsible behaviour. Please help us keep your data safe by keeping your unique passwords and other access credentials to our services confidential and by following basic security principles.

Sharing data with third parties

We only share your personal data with third parties we necessarily need for the subject of our business and for the purposes mentioned in this document. We carefully choose the partners we entrust your data to — partners able to provide such technical and organisational safeguards that unauthorised or accidental access to your data, or any other misuse, cannot occur. These third parties care about the protection of your personal data too. We will send you a complete overview of the third parties and their up-to-date privacy policies at any time on request.

Your rights and personal data protection

In relation to your personal data, you have in particular the following rights:

  • the right to withdraw your consent at any time
  • the right to access your personal data
  • the right to have your personal data corrected or completed
  • the right to request restriction of processing
  • the right to object to or complain about processing in certain cases
  • the right to be informed of a personal data breach in certain cases
  • the right to erasure of personal data in certain cases
  • other rights set out in the Personal Data Protection Act and in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, repealing Directive 95/46/EC (the GDPR)
